Police respond to a call at a warehouse, when they enter they see 53 bicycles, a table overturned three chairs laying on their side, the forth chair on it's back with a man laying dead in it, he had been shot.

why was the man Murdered?

He had been cheating at cards. Bicycle is a brand of playing cards, there are only 52 cards in a deck, the 53rd card means the man was cheating.
