Disc Rotor Removal

I read information that disc rotor bolts are of soft metal, needing heat to get the factory installed ones off. Now I'm seriously thinking about leaving the rotors on for the tire replacement. Has anyone seen the price of those bolts? Take a seat before you do.

Anyway, two dealers in my area are telling me to use Red Loctite. In defense of others here, under the post "Which Loctite?" I'm not finding any horror stories that suggest Blue Loctite is bad.

Anyone else have any difficulty getting rotors off?

Re: Disc Rotor Removal

leave the rotors on. I've gone through 5 sets of tires and have never had to remove my rotors to change them.(whether I did it myself or had a shop do the mount/dismount)

Re: Disc Rotor Removal

Yep! I'm going to, at this point, leave them on - it probably would be best I did.

Re: Disc Rotor Removal

Just don't ever let the disks support the weight of the wheel and you should be fine.
