Wrightme43 Interview
Somebody who needs no introduction(
What do you do for a living? I design, build, and maintain custom saltwater reef aquariums. How long have you owned your FZ6? I got my bike April 11th, 2007. She is a blue 2007 model. What other modes of transport do you have? I also have a 2005 F-150 Extra Cab STX model truck. If you could have any bike what would it be? The 2007 Freddie Spencer painted Honda VFR. What are your hobbies apart from the bike? Cooking, woodwork, and aquariums. What is the best place you have visited on your travels and why? Norway is the coolest place I have ever been. The landscape is amazing. Describe yourself in three words? Blessed, Happy, Loved. If you could redesign any household appliance what would it be and why? The stove. Because round electic burners are stupid. They should be a flat griddle. Which invention in history would you most like to have come up with? Coffee Pot. Because they rock!!! If you ruled the world, what is the first thing you would outlaw? Nothing, I think there are way to many laws, and most need to be removed. If you were forced to entertain us all at the Forum Christmas party - what would your talent be? Jokes. Snow or beach? The beach all the way. Snow sucks. Windows or Mac? Windows, Mac advertisements make me want to kick that smug SOB in the boys. F1 or NASCAR? Both Please. Bon Jovi or Beethoven? Beethoven on a classical guitar. Mariah Carey or Mick Jagger? Jagger. Comedy or thriller? Comedy. Action or horror? Action or well thought out horror, not the violence porn that passes for horror now. Meat or Veg? Meat!! And finally, your number one rule in life? Remember how blessed you are.

Hey Thanks ELM!!!! That is a awesome aquarium.
Keeping soft corals with acropora corals like that is really hard. He/she must have a super hella strong skimmer and chemical filtration. Those colonies have to be 6-10 years old maybe older. That is really nice system. The VFR is so freaking bad.

Hey Steve, do you install the tanks? like into the wall? I've been trying to get my dad to do that for years!!!! He's got 165 gallon tank, but he wants to sell it (maybe because he put $20,000 into it and all the fish died
)

Re: Wrightme43 Interview
Dont put fishtanks into structural walls.
Build a false wall and build a room behind the tank if you really really want to. The equiptment is insanely expensive and the enviorment is harsh. Elec. High humidity and salt. Its really really harsh. I have built one inwall tank. The lady insisted on her builders doing the work. They did not follow instructions at all. She insisted on the wrong shaped tank. It was a giant cluster F. Instead of isolating the system from the house they built the supports solid to the walls. Pump noise in the water transfered directly to the frame of the house. There was no room to maintain the system. It was a freaking nightmare. I tried everything in my power to get her to tear it out and redo it properly. I tried everything in my power to isolate the system. She was constantly unhappy. I was constantly unhappy. I finally told that I would no longer service her system. It was impossible to make her happy with what she had. I lost several thousands of dollars on that deal. Dont do it. If you want to do it, either put the system in the garage facing into the house or into a room dedicated to it. There is a whole lot that goes into them.

Re: Wrightme43 Interview
hey wright, how much would an aquarium like the one in the picture cost for installation into a new house while in construction for everything plus cost of fish and stuff? just ballpark off the top of your head....

Re: Wrightme43 Interview
System if I built if for me. 4-7k. Corals and fish, another 3-4k. If I sold one like that. Probley 12-15k plus weekly maintence of two hours, and the ongoing costs of elec, food, water, filters, salt, and supplies. You could get to 30k real quick.
The huge difference in cost is wether or not all that stuff is running on computer controllers, and wether or not it has a calcium reactor and a chiller system or they use hand measuring and dosing, and use evaporative cooling with a automatic top off system. It gets steep quick. He/she could have around 7k in it if they built it and used the basic equiptment and bought the corals as small captive raised frags and grew them out over several years. www.reeffrontiers.com if you dig that kind of stuff.
