05 FZ6 TPS replaced last week still the same issues

Hello,

I got my TPS replaced last week after engines stalling and cutting out at 6000 rpm. Ride it home after new TPS seemed fine. Went on a ride today and after 10 miles started getting hesitation between 6000-8000 rpm. Power failed and engine cut off a few miles later. Almost got rear ended. Kept riding a bit more evened out for 15 miles then started the same old stuff. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME, thanks

Todd

Re: 05 FZ6 TPS replaced last week still the same issues

If you have replaced the TPS already, which would be the most likely culprit, then there is no sense to throw money out to change parts until you figure the problem. My recommendation would be to go to a dealer because they would have the diagnostic equipment and have them check it over. I'm sure it will be kinda spendy at first but will be well worth it in the long run to find out exactly what is going on. That way, they can tell you (hopefully) and you can decide right then and there that if it is something you can fix or have the dealer fix. As to your problem of stalling, it sounds to me like a definate electrical issue. Does your check engine light come on? If so a code will be stored and tell exactly what's going on. If no code, then it will most likely be something mechanical causing your fault.
Bottom line would be to just bite the bullet and see a dealer for help. This is all in my opinion. Hope this helps and good luck in finding the problem!

My check engine light does not come on and never has. I did the diagnostic test for the tps running 16 with no throttle and 102 with full throttle. I adjusted the idle and that still didnt help. I winder if I have a faulty ignition coil?

I also ran across this thread regarding a some type of recall on the TPS, but it might be for the '06's.

i did wrote this down to your initial thread too but did you or the service check the ignition switch? sportrider had a similar experience and found out that the switch was faulty...

TPS changed under warranty or recall? did they tell you the TPS was the reason? any test rides from the mechanic?

TPS replaced. They also had to reconnect wire to kill switch. I spoke with the dealership and they took it for a 12 mile loop, no issues. When I was riding issues did not show up until about 15 miles, go figure.

Re: 05 FZ6 TPS replaced last week still the same issues

ORIGINAL THREAD w/ symptoms described (Engine Hesitation/Power failure)

Are you positive they actually changed the TPS? Did you have to wait for the parts to come in? Did you see the old one? Did they mark you VIN?

The TPS problem is intermittent...unless you did the check while the bike was acting up, which would be very hard to do, I believe your TPS will always appear to be reading within spec. when tested in the manner you described.

6 to 8K? I thought the TPS problem was more present at lower RPM? Eitherway, it should be changed regardless of whether or not a bike is having a TPS problem. Not sure what your issue is but it certainly sounds electrical to me...good luck.

EDIT - maybe something like THIS or perhaps vibration related.
