Chain tensioning
Hey Riders,
AFAIK I have to measure the chain tension at the spot that's in the middle of the chain horizontally. I measure the slack between the lowest and the highest points of the chain at that particular middle spot. The lowest point is easy to find but the highest one - it seems to be the plastic chain guide right above the chain (please, look at the attached image). Is it normal for the chain to touch it or my chain is too loose? I measured ~50mm from the lowest point of the chain to the plastic guide which is OK according to owner's manual. On the other hand I don't know how much more the chain would go upward if the chain guide wasn't there. Thanks ![]() P.S. Sorry to double this post (I already posted it as a reply in another forum section, but it seems the other section is not read that frequently).

Re: Chain tensioning
It looks to me like your about 2 or 3 too far forward.
Spin the rear wheel to find the tightest part of the bottom chain. Measure about 13 from the center point of the rear axel forward. At that point push the chain up and measure the slack. Next, push the chain down and measure the slack. Add the two measurements together and that number should be between 1.77 and 2.17 You wont get much slack when you pull the chain down, most of the slack will be measured when the chain is pushed up. |

Re: Chain tensioning
If the chain is touching the guard on the bottom of the swing arm, then the chain is too loose. I just checked mine and it was hitting the guard also. If the chain is hitting the guard, I got about 2.5 inches of slack on my bike. I set mine at just under 2 inches of slack.
For the measurement point, half way down the swing arm as stated above is good.

Re: Chain tensioning
Thanks! I just measured where the center of the swingarm is and fixed the chain tension
