Wink Headlight Mod

Just finished my headlight mod. Anybody have any idea why Yamaha didnt just do this in the first place. I've posted pics of the wiring harness that I've used and I would like to note that there was absolutely no splicing wires from the factory harness. This version of the mod is totally reversible and simply plugs into the hardware that is already on the FZ6.

Re: Headlight Mod

they didn't do it in the first place because 2 lights closer together could look like a car further off in the distance than a bike really close....

Re: Headlight Mod

Boy that looks alot more complex than just tapping one wire.

looks like a lot of Crimp connections.

Nice harness though.

Could you elaborate a little more on your approach to this mod?
Why the relays?

Thanks

Re: Headlight Mod

From the looks of the harness, it looks like your using two relays so the low beams are on when the bike is started and are shut off when the high beams are switch on. Am I correct?

Re: Headlight Mod

I used the relays as more of a safety feature just in case the guage of wire that I used happened to burn up(i.e. I wouldn't burn my entire harness up) I did end up using a lot of connectors but the reason for this is that my harness "plugs" into the factory harness and is totally reversible if I ever did need to go back to how it was before. And when either of my bulbs burns out all I will have to do is plug those connectors into the new H4 bulb and presto. Any more questions just ask me.

Re: Headlight Mod

I actually got that wiring harness from a friend of mine who works with bikes and cars. He sells the harness with set of installation instructions (but I got mine as a favor)
I can contact him if anybody needs help with this mod.

Re: Headlight Mod

nice harness...but to highlight that it can be done alot easier with one wire and two connectors either end. Search for biker dude's wire harness, its exactly how yamaha would have done it to be honest.
