Question Convert a FZS6WC to a FZS6W

This question has been bugging the piss out of me, and after long hours trying to search for the answer, I've given up and decided to start a new thread by asking.

I bought my FZ last August in California so the official model is a FZS6WC. Well I've moved to Georgia and curious what do I have to do in order to convert my FZ to a regular FZS6W. A few of my fellow motorcycle friends at work have informed me that California bikes don't have as much HP and get worse gas mileage. Is it something to do with the emissions or what? I'm not savvy when it comes to the mechanics, which is why I decided to post under the technical threads.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Convert a FZS6WC to a FZS6W

According to the part diagrams, the california model may have different intake manifolds/fuel injectors and also has an EVAP canister which adds to weight.

Edit: I also forgot to mention there is also a different ECU for California models as well. For some reason, if you compare the prices between CA and Non-CA ECU's the non-CA ECU's are more expensive.

Live with it. Some of that stuff is computer controlled and would require more than just a part swap.

Sell it and get a regular model that is the same? Maybe for around the same price? Might end up being cheaper than parts swap. Just don't tell the poor bastard who buys it it's a cali model... lol

i would just start modding with a cat elim pipe, exhaust, airbox mod, and get rid of the evap Canister, should get around most of the CA emissions crap and get you rolling a bit better too. PCIII might be able to bypass some of the ECU stuff too.

Cool. I've order a TB and working on a cat elim pipe. I've also ordered a K&N Air Filter and read a little about the airbox mod but not too sure about that one. Don't know anything about the evap Canister??? A PCIII will have to wait till next year or else the old lady will have my nutz in a slings LOL....

You might want to give the Two Bros Juice Box a try also. I have the K&N, Two Bros Carbon and the Juice Bo. I am rather pleased with the outcome.

Pretty much , except it is foolproof, it does not mess with anything but the fuel.

Do you have any pics of your bike with the Juice Box installed?
