Engine Help

Here is my problem. I was recently a part of a hit and run where a Chevy S10 clipped my front tire and took off. No major damage, just scuffs to the bike. But my problem is the since then I have had a loss in MPG to where I am running about 25-30 MPG. Anyone can help? I have a picture. I think its the Mass Airflow Sensor? It was apart when I was checking out the bike. It has a nice crack in it on one side. Could this be the source of my lost mileage?

Re: Engine Help

no codes. it just feels like its running very rich. I pulled my plugs and the tops of them were covered with soot.

Yes, it's the intake air pressure sensor. If it is compromised the ECU is getting a low vacuum reading all the time, probably interpreting that as a wide open throttle, hence making the mixture rich.

Re: Engine Help

so if I seal that crack, it will help? Can I use epoxy to seal it? Or what do you recommend?

Re: Engine Help

You can’t make things worst by trying to seal it, give it a go. If it doesn’t work you can always buy a new one.
