Handlebar problem

Hey everybody, I got my first bike last weekend (2004 FZ6!)

The previous owner put a few mods on the bike, one of which was an aftermarket handlebar. It's a few inches lower than stock (haven't quite decided if I like it better or not). The problem is whenever I turn too sharply to the left (and too sharply is not very sharp at all when going slow speeds) the brake lever hits the front of the bike causing me to stop short which has made me nearly drop my spotless bike! Anyway, I guess I'm curious to know if the same problem exists with the stock handlebars as well and whether there's a way to fix it. Thanks!

Re: Handlebar problem

do u know if the handlebars are FZ1 bars, because if so then you should have no clearance issues when positioned correctly, if they are a different brand or style then im not sure if you can move the lever enough to clear the fairing. as for the stock bars they have no clearance issues.

Re: Handlebar problem

I think the brand was "urban handlebars"... if that makes sense?

Re: Handlebar problem

HI. I have just put FZ1 bars on my 600, and as a result, I have had to roll the controls further foward to allow tank clearance. I have heard that the forks can be raised to eliminate this problem. I have not tried it yet, so cannot comment. Either idea may be worth a try for you, though... Good luck, ready
