Headlight issues...(ASAP)
So I got into a pretty rough wreck back in may after having my '08 FZ6 for about 6-7 weeks
![]() No full coverage. Dealership said it was totaled and refused to do any work on it, unless I was willing to do the full $8,000+ ![]() Anywhoo, I've been slowly working on it, but in the meantime my new wife(just over two weeks) and I have been sharing one car. Wasn't so bad in the summer because she's a teacher, but school is back in session and she's not too happy about waking up 3 hours early everyday to take me to work. So here's the problem. I'm almost ready to ride again, but the headlights still won't work. The switches on the left side had to be replaced due to the accident, and all the other lights work now, but the headlights still won't. Tested the bulbs so I know they're still good, but I don't know where to go from there. Looked for the fuse box, but can't seem to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I hoping to let my wife sleep in tomorrow morning... |

You didn't look very hard... main fuse is under the tank next to the battery. The fuse box is located under panel D on the right side of the bike just below the seat. All this is in your manual, by the way...

Re: Headlight issues...(ASAP)
Start with the fuse box... remove seat, unscrew the one mounting bold for the right side plastic cover (next to the seat), and there is the fuxe box.
Sorry to hear about the crash... another reason why full coverage is a must on a bike... Good luck! |

So good news and bad news...
Thanks to biker_dude43 I now know where the fuse box is. Bad news is that the fuse is fine, but my lights still don't work

Re: Headlight issues...(ASAP)
Did you check the one under the fuel tank?

Re: Headlight issues...(ASAP)
Next thing to check is the headlight relay.
If that's OK, then it's a wiring problem.

Re: Headlight issues...(ASAP)
I was looking at this one picture with a whole bunch of rainbows! There was lightbulbs and boxes and colored lines everywhere! I thought it was pretty cool, until Claud took the map off my hands (I was looking at it upsidedown).
You have an 08 FZ6. Under the fuel tank, there is a battery cover. There is a STARTER RELAY on it. If you unplug that STARTER RELAY, there is a MAIN FUSE. Without it, the ignition switch will not work. Impossible. Under the rear RIGHT side panel, there is a FUSEBOX. Inside, on the far right, there is a FUSE that regulates the headlight. Check it very carefully, because there needs to be a connection in that fuse for the HEADLIGHT RELAY to work. No HEADLIGHT RELAY connection; no power to the headlight. It would be a good idea to replace the fuse with a good one for an adequate test. Under the rear LEFT side panel, there is a collection of RELAYS. There are four of them. They are boxes with wires flowing out of them. You want the 3rd one. It is the third from the front. Here's a picture: ![]() Do you see that 3rd box from the front? That's the headlight relay. You can disconnect it, open it up, check it for damage and test it with a multimeter. It that relay doesn't work; no headlight. There is a good chance this relay needs replacing if you crashed your FZ6 on its LEFT side. On the left side of your handlebars, there should be a dimmer switch. If that switch is damaged then your headlights won't work. You can test it with a multimeter to see if it there's continuity. I realized you recently had that switch replaced, which makes me very suspicious.
