crash bars
Just installed sw-motech crash bars from twistedthrottle.com. these installed in 20 minutes, very easy installation, even if the instructions are not the best. $135.00 plus $20.00 shipping is a small price to pay for the protection these provide, much better than a frame slider. also you can mount highway pegs on these, and it gives you a great place to mount fog lights.

Re: crash bars
from twisted throttle..
![]() The full page... click The look great, but they don't seem to stick out as far as Sliders. In the one pic it looks as though they mount in a way that would allow you to still use sliders if you want a measure of fairing protection as well. hmmmm....

Re: crash bars
They aren't frame sliders...they are engine guards...keep the engine purdy if the bike goes down...get the frame sliders too

Re: crash bars
They would be a good addition to frame sliders.. but clearly are just for the engine protection.. and the highway pegs..

Re: crash bars
Did the same thing also figured out how to add frame sliders also.
Don't have a pic but basically bought generic slidders - hole was to small so drilled out the metal piece to slightly over 10mm - problem was with all the engine guard hardware the bolt was not quite long enough - I looked high and low for a 10mm "fine thread" allen head longer than 80mm and no such animal exists without having special made at $40.00 a piece. I finally ended up getting a hex head bolt the length I needed and a 10mm die to extend the threads up the shank - Then took my Dremel tool to the inside "plastic" enough to allow a socket to fit over the bolt head. I added a few 10mm washers for correct bolt depth into the engine case and all is good. It really is not that ugly. My only worry and perhaps someone more aggressive than me who has the guards is will the guards hit 1st w/steep lean angle??????? Will be a good place to put some lights or maybe pegs. |

You must be very flexible. I can't see how that would be comfortable at all.. of course I am not brave enough to deviate any position...on the bike...
