My thoughts exactly!! the styling is pretty good, i like the way it looks. BUT thats the only thing i like about the er-6 or (650R)......if you ever get the chance to ride one...........dont! j/k but the engine in those bikes is BORING! just my two cents....Im a FZ kinnda guy so my opinion might be a little bias.

Re: Kawasaki released new '09 models

A double steel frame? Yeah...you'll need the exhaust on the VERY BOTTOM of the engine to balance the weight-distribution.

Oh wait! The FZ6 has a spine-frame with undertail exhaust? Hmm...it seems people don't have a problem with high-weight, when the frame is made OUT OF ALUMINUM!!!!

...

There is one good point I'd like to make: the ER-6N is better for beginners than an FZ6. That steel-double frame will absorb more force than an aluminum one and it isn't rev crazy. It's cheaper too.

it's not necessarily bad.. Sometimes I wish I could achieve max torque without sounding like a Stukka in a dive - like when driving around in the city. Maybe I'm unused to the supersport type engines .. I like when it screams, but sometimes I'd like it to be more domestic

Re: Kawasaki released new '09 models

Yeah, I get my max torque at 6k rpms on the Buell, and I love it! As a matter of fact I get almost 80% of my max torque (which is more than the max torque of the FZ6) from 3k rpms, and it keeps going up from there through the redline...
I love the F1 sound and feel of an I4 engine hitting 10k+ rpms, but what's the point if you can barely tap into it (city and canyon riding)?

Re: Kawasaki released new '09 models

I'm going to be upgrading from my starter bike (Ninja 250) early next year, and I'm debating between the Kawi and the new '09 FZ6R. What's the dynamics of the engine difference between the bikes? Will the FZ6R require higher RPM to get good torque?

Re: Kawasaki released new '09 models

Honestly, I love the power delivery of the FZ6. I do not think you will be disappointed with it. Most of the time I'm cruising along around 4k and when I give it throttle it delivers plenty enough to get up to speed. I mean its faster than the average car at those lower rpms and when you get in the high end you are already blowing everything away.

My roommate just got an sv650s and I have to say I'm not too impressed with it. I would take an fz6 over it anyday.

That headlight on the ER-6n looks out of place to me. I guess they were trying to go for that robot from Appleseed look. It can look a lot better if they cleaned it up using a single projector encased in a black housing. From the specs, it weighs less than the FZ6 wet, lower seat height, and more affordable. I wouldn't mind owning one.
