Thanks for bringing this up. I'm still processing my decision on doing this.

Canadian FZs have an optional fairing block that sits above the headlights and to the outside of the windscreen. I'm not sure how much good it does though, and I doubt they're cheap.

Question Re: Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

I think this is a great idea! Does anyone know which model will work for my '08? Mounting kit needed? I'm not sure if I need to look for snowmobile or dirt bike guards... for my aftermarket bars... Yeah, I'm an idiot... ,but I'm trying really hard? ?

Re: Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

I installed the Powermadd Handguards (Star series) on my 08 FZ6. You have to buy the guards and mount kit separately but I found the mount kit on twistedthrottle.com for $7.50. I have the sw-motech bar riser/barback installed and I can turn the bars fully and lock them as well. Without the riser-barback installed you will not be able to lock the bars. The guards do a great job of wind protection.

One note: the mounts allow you to install them either over the top or under the bar. The best option seemed to be to install it over since the mount doesn't hit any of the wires or cables coming into the controls that way.

Sweet. I'm looking at getting some "bar-back's", any chance you could post a pic with the wind deflectors on??

Cheers.

Re: Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

Here are some pics. Sorry for the bugs/dirt on the bike. ...uh, and the missing left mirror (on order), doh!

You can see in the 3rd photo that the bars are in the lock position and the handguard is still not touching the fairing.

Re: Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

I bought the handguards on ebay ~$30 but I've also seen them at my local shops. If they carry any dirt bike accessories they will probably have these as well.

Re: Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

Bugger, just realized that the '08's have the narrow windshield, so I don't think they'd fit on my '04.
