Re: Bit Torrent

What do you download from torrents that's legal?

Pete is talking about downloading pirated copyrighted MotoGP races, which is obviously illegal.

Obviously....

Well if there was a way to pay a reasonable cost I might do that, say $5.00 to watch a race live. I don't want to pay for cable TV just to see a few races.

Radio shows? I don't know if it's legal, and nor do I particularly care, if I'm honest. I can see the issue with downloading somebody's album, or a movie - although I think that's mitigated, at least morally, if you then go out and buy it - but when I download an internet radio show it's no different to sticking a cassette in the machine to record a song, just like the good old days. Although I believe that was technically illegal as well.

Of course, the British Government has recently announced that it intends to lose the next election even more spectacularly than previously intended by somehow legislating a ban on filesharing by cutting people off, or at least sending out warning letters, presumably addressed to 'the dodgy looking guy with the laptop hanging around the coffee shop'. But never mind, eh? There's always encryption.

Re: Bit Torrent

You guys do whatever you want, I really could care less I was just stating the fact that per forum rules, such discussions should not happen here. That is all.

The MotoGP website is pretty cheap, and will give you access to all races of this season and past seasons as well. It's a great package, you should look into it

I download a few things using torrents legally. Dotnetrocks.com and hanselminutes.com encourage you to download their shows using bittorrent. Those shows are for software developers so if you're not one, you may not have any interest.

I'm sure there's others.

Just wanted to pipe in that bittorrent isn't illegal, it's just another method of transferring files, it's just that most of the files transferred using it are copyrighted.

these days there are many legal torrents out there. Especially in the authorized bootleg crowds. Many bands encourage it. NIN actually organizes fans to film and often releases actual sound board recordings to the community.

If you happen to be a NIN fan, check out thisoneisonus.org This One Is On Us is the central hub for their live material for the past couple years.

Re: Bit Torrent

Interesting, thanks but I hate TORRENTs of any kind peer to peer is kinda lame... but again, my point was to say that discussing problems about leeching motogp races (or any "warez" for that matter) on peer to peer is against the rules of the forum.

Well where can I access races, aside from Speed? That's all I want to do.
