You ever thought about this?

That when you're at 12k rpm's in the time it takes you to say "one thousand and one" you had 400 little controlled explosions between your legs.

Spiffy!

Re: You ever thought about this?

Shouldn't it be 800?

12,000 rpm * 4 cylinders = 48,000 explosions per minute

48k/min * 1min/60sec = 800

Or perhaps I completley misunderstand how an internal combustion engine works, which is entirely possible.

Each cylinder only explodes (ignites) every other rotation of the crank shaft. The in-between motion is the exhaust phase of the cycle.
