Official: I am bikeless......

At least temporarily... The buyer came today and took away my 2005 FZ6. After a brief class on the bike and the exchange of the title for the check, he is the proud new owner of the bike.

Now, I can call the dealer where I've already secured my new '08 FZ6 and let them know I am ready to come get it! The BEST news is, I'm walking in with cash and walking out with a clear title to a 2008 bike!!!

congrats for the sale and buy....how much does this trade cost you? im sure it will be worth it...i never bought a brand new bike,,is there a new bike smell also?

I looked HARD at the competition and decided that I cannot let you all down by leaving the family!

I bought the Cobalt Blue. I just got off the phone with the dealer. The crate arrived yesterday! But, the earliest I can pick it up (my fault!) is April 12th without taking time off work. That is OK since we are not even close to a riding season here. Still too damned cold and a lot of snow laying around! I'm hoping by the 12th, it'll be a nice enough day to RIDE the bike home and not put it in the back of a truck!

For the deal? I bought the '05 in May '06 as a holdover for $6100 OTD. The '08 cost me $6418.00 OTD. I put down the $418.00. I sold it for $4700 but kept the racetech spring kit (was just about to install!), the FE Kit and the tank camera mount. Without those in consideration, the bike cost me $0.22 per mile plus fuel. Not a bad deal at all!

So, I came back to the FZ6 because of the minor changes in the model years and because I just didn't think I'd be happy with the competition for this bike. Having the three mods available to me Day 1 is a bonus. I'll do the dual light mod right away as well. I bought Pro-Tek sliders at the dealer and they are installing them before I come get the bike. So, within a couple weeks, I'll have 5 mods done!

I could have got a better deal on the '07 (they had a red one) but since all my gear has some shade of blue, and I don't like the '07 blue, the '08 was the clear winner... that Cobalt Blue just rocks! Plus, it matches my Tacoma!

Dani bought the same bike (and isn't too far away!) as well as ShinNH who lives about 35 minutes away! Reiobard lives very close to the dealer (about an hour from me)... We should be able to have a nice local group here for a few New England tours!

The new bike smell, yes! Fresh rubber that I get to wear the stripes and nubs off, erase the chicken strips, watch the odometer click the first mile, the 10th, 100th, etc.... When I bought the '05 in '06, it had ZERO miles as well. The only BAD part is breaking in the not-so-comfortable stock seat but I'm going to save for a Corbin or a Top Saddlery.

Sorry all... I ramble on but I'm just a little excited about this all finally transpiring. Having the dealer tell me my bike is AT THE SHOP just brought home the reality. Still, it was a sad moment to watch my '05 pull away!

I almost spit beer out of my nose when I read that Top! I thought I was the only one with an internal combustion heaven!

Congrats on the new cobalt blue FZinNH! You will not regret it! When you see that color in person make sure you have an extra tissue or two you may just cream in your jeans

I never thought i would say this, but congrats on not having a bike...

I took mine out today and it was awesome, still much too cold (like you already said) so nothing very aggressive, but it was nice to get a few more miles on her... and now the bike is at my home instead of 20 miles away...


Looks forward to some FZ rides this summer with you guys!

It was strange to back into the garage tonight and NOT see the bike parked there...

Thus far, I am all set for April 12th pick-up date. I'm going to be really bummed out if the weather doesn't cooperate!

Well, i want to get mine all broken in by the time you get yours. that and i was sad that it was living 20 miles away.
