Re: Tires?
Michelin has 2 dual-compound tires:
Pilot Power 2CT Pilot Road 2 Both are new designs, and there haven't been many reports on the longevity/performance but I am hearing good things about both. I need a new rear soon and would love to hear from anyone who has tried either! I'm a cheapskate, so I may just go with the dual compound Bridgestones and save some bucks for gas. Battlax BT-021

Re: Tires?
I want to say my roommate has like 2000 miles on his Pilot Roads and he is loving them. Very minimal centerline wear at this point. He had the stock battlax on before and hated them, his confidence in the corners double once he got the PR's on.
Maybe the dual compoud Battlax is better than the standard ones they make, but if they aren't I would spend a little more to get something nice. My father just quoted one of my buddies like 280 a set, the rear was a PR2 and the front was a Pilot Power. Shop down the road from here quoted him at 290. Isnt bad for a nice set of tires. -bryan |

Re: Tires?
I've heard good things about the dual compounds from friends who use their bikes for everything - fun riding, track days and commuting to/from work. the best part about them is the longer life in the middle, so you can ride the highways and not kill the tires so quick.

Re: Tires?
PP2CTs are just regular PP with a even softer sidewall. Best internet price would be at www.sportbiketrackgear.com
Here is a great article on pilot powers and the new 2CT from a go-fast perspective -- TrackdayMag - Michelin Pilot Power and Pilot Power 2CT Tires There is a great thread already on this forum that discusses almost every tire that fits our bike...I think it's a sticky....search and you shall find.

Re: Tires?
I've put 5000 miles on the Pilot Road². They are still very round in profile, with plenty of tread life left. They are a well made multi-use tire, but I have found that they have limits to the amount of cornering and braking loads that they will accept before slipping.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. They should last to ~10000 miles. |
