Stebel Nautilus horn at harbor Freight.
Harbor Freight now carrieis the Stebel Nautilus horn that many of us have ordered from Twisted Throttle.
It's got a different brand name, "Big Boy" or something similar. And the round bits on the side are cheaply chromed. Beyond that, it's exactly the same horn that you'd get from Twisted Throttle. Harbor Freight prices vary on a regular basis, so check their website. Fred

Re: Stebel Nautilus horn at harbor Freight.
Just went OFF sale (was about $35, take additional 15% off if you're on mail list and rec'd the adv.). Now, back around $45 or so. I'm deciding whether I want to install it on the FZ6 or the '84 Ford Econoline van.

Re: Stebel Nautilus horn at harbor Freight.
I`d love the Stebel if I could hide it on the bike... way to chunky for my taste... I know I know, I should stop worrying about how my bike looks, but I just can't help it

Re: Stebel Nautilus horn at harbor Freight.
Wavex, I put it on my bike right in the open connected to the engine (where the crash bar would be bolted to) and it looks brilliant...since I sprayed it all black it blends into the engine as if it were a part of the engine itself!!
At first I was a bit sceptical about putting it there but afterwards it looked great!!!

Re: Stebel Nautilus horn at harbor Freight.
Yes killernoodle, it is possible to separate them alright. I was going to go this route but it was very difficult to source tubing and a hose connector this side of the atlantic at a good price so I just settled on keeping it all together. To be honest it looks great and since its out in the open it is a hell of alot louder then if it were tucked into the fairing.
I had considered putting the compressor into the space between the battery and handlebar piece at the front of the frame but it doesn't fit. Then I decided to put the compressor under the seat but again on my bike it doesn't fit since I have an alarm and tool kit under there. You can mount it further back towards the back of the seat compartment (towards exhaust region) but then you will need a much longer hose to connect to your horn piece...the longer the hose the longer it takes for your horn to sound....pressure and all that jazz!! So...the best thing I found was to keep it all together, spray it a black matt colour which was temperature safe up to 250 degrees celcius (engine = 100 or so degrees) and from there I ran the power loom through the existing fixture through which the side stand switch runs (on the engine...left hand side of bike) up to where all the other computer things are located under the tank. This is where I had my relay...and from the relay I ran the horn button wires and the battery wires along the inner fairing on the left hand side up to the battery and old horn connectors...all very neat and tidy and professionally done if I must say so myself! lol!!.You are best to use 12 gauge wire for the horn to relay, relay to battery connections, and its ok to use 16 to 18 gauge wire from relay to old horn connectors...if I were you I wouldn't go any less than 12 gauge for the specified wires as the smaller you go the more likely you are to have some sizzled wires and the horn doesn't perform well (apparently) with thinner wire. Dont forget to put an inline fuse (20A)..the horn is ok up to 30A from + of battery to relay using that 12 gauge wire I have mentioned. I used bullet connectors for the inline fuse and spade terminals for all other connectors..all of which I covered using shrink tubing and good electrical tape. When making my own loom I found it best to use 1 meter of wire for each connection...so 1 meter from battery positive to relay, 1 meter from relay to old horn switches, 2 meter from - on horn to - on battery and 1 meter from relay to + on horn. Anyways....i've gone on and rambled again...if you want to know any additional information let me know...if there's one thing I know with this mod its how to make a good wire loom!!!
