Thumbs up Guys is it just me ?

i bought a FZ6 /2007 with 2000 miles, but i get the impression that the throttle is really hard as **** . it rides great but i get tired some times because of the stiff in the spring jejeje. Can this be changed ? thanks in advance.

Re: Guys is it just me ?

stand facing the left hand side of your bike...just where the frame bends downwards to the engine near the foot pegs...kneel down and look behind the frame at this point and you'll see two cables on a small wheel....this is your throttle housing. Check to make sure the spring there isn't damaged or rusted...

Thats as much help i can give...my throttle is fine to be honest. Give that a good spray and see if it helps. Just a quick question for you...when you throttle and then let it off does the throttle snap immediately to being off and the bike lunges forward or does it return to "neutral" position gradually and the bike just gradually slows down?

EDIT: O and welcome to the forum!! great to see someone else with this masterpiece between their legs! :P

Re: Guys is it just me ?

Could give us a relevant example, something to base upon, your "hard as ****" throttle. I think your discussing a stiff throttle spring.

Yep! Mine has a stiff throttle spring too but nothing I didn't get use to in a few hundred miles. Sometimes, I experience an abrupt engine response when I get tired on a long ride - I'm not as smooth.

Can you compare it to another motorcycle? If you're new to motorcycles in general, it's going to be an adjustment. You might want to (ahem) exercise your right hand to get some more strength and endurance in it.

I don't find the throttle on my FZ to be discernably stiffer than comparable street bikes, so if yours is, there might be something wrong. It should snap back to off. That's good adjustment on the return spring.

Re: Guys is it just me ?

mine is fine, you could also get one of those throttle helper things that adds a lever onto the twist grip[ to make it easier to turn,

Re: Guys is it just me ?

I had a Bandit 650 hire bike whilst the fazer was being repaired and the throttle was much lighter

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. See, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it . . .

Re: Guys is it just me ?

I don't have much problem with spring tension, but my hands get tired in general on the grips. Maybe some kind of gel grip would be a good idea here. I didn't have this problem on baby ninja.

Re: Guys is it just me ?

I have a cramp buster,it really helps relieve hand strain. It was a bit long so I ground it to a shorter length. A very inexpensive answer to your problem.
