The FZ6 just can't touch it.
I have 3 street bikes, a 2004 XL1200 Sportster Roadster, 2005 Yamaha Roadstar and the 2004 FZ6. The Roadstar gets the worst mileage of them all at between 36 to 40mpg. The FZ6 will go 50 to 54 if I am really careful. Over the last couple of weeks in fuel runs of 140 measured miles the 1200 Sporty has blown them all off averaging 56.3mpg at a run speed of 70mph. The fuel mileage has been calculated with the speedo error input to that calculation. Not bad for an old dog, not bad at all.....

Its the tallest geared of the bunch. Not that much of a surprise. Now try that on a Fat Boy and see if it still compares.

Cruisers generally get good mileage, even big displacement ones... When you only rev to 3500rpm or so and cruise at 1500-2000 you aren't burning much fuel.
My Vulcan 900 gets almost 60mpg regardless of how heavy my right hand is, get probably low 40s on my FZ6... but I ride pretty hard on the fizzer. |

I like my 60mpg...
though it isn't nearly as good as the 85mpg i got on my ninja 250...
