Engine Ice
Wht s up guys....
The last couple days in DFW been humid and hot and last night I was riding around 8pm cruising in HOV and found out that my temperature is a strip over half in the gauge...I notice it was humid cz I did felt hot... On the way back wheather a bit cool off around 9-9.30pm and during that time my gauge back to normal I was thinking to flush my radiator and use Engine ICE for summer time just to prevent overheating since it ll be cooking here in TX Anyone ever flush the radiator perhaps if someone know some threat in how to do it your self, that will be great Looking foward to have some input, thank s guys |

Re: Engine Ice
I have done mine......not real hard.
Remove the lower hose and drain in a bucket, if you have a 05-06 body style you have to remove part of the fairing to be able to fill it back up. Since you are draining the radiator you should change the plugs. It may not need it but since you are there and you have to remove the radiator to do it, couldnt hurt. I also live in tx. Im about 15 min west of galveston so i know what you mean about hot. I also ride my bike all the time, in the hot and cold, and it has never over heated on me. Its your money and time so you make the final decision. I only drained mine because i had a bad plug and needed to change it out. If it were me i would just ride it. It isnt even close to overheating until the temp guage is flashing and it has all bars lit up. In hot weather it will typically run around 170 to 180 degrees unless you are stopped, then it should be a little over 200 degrees....which will equal to 3 or 4 bars on the old style guage. Hope this helps. |

Re: Engine Ice
Oh! You're in luck! I've done this quest already and as a matter of fact, ENGINE ICE is one of the best!
Here it is. The ULTIMATE CRASH COURSE IN COOLANT. http://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/garag...ant-brand.html (Antifreeze/Coolant-Brand)

Re: Engine Ice
Yep, read Elm's page. Doesn't get much more thorough than that.

I bought the bike april 08 and the odo was bout 820miles for 05 FZ6, I figure is brand new bike so I just want to make sure those little heat is normal in TX....:d I ll keep that in mind I ll flush the coolent at the same time while replacing the plugs and thank s for the tips that gauge will be blinkin once almost overheat. I normally turn off the engine once I notice I stop in traffice light on hot days and that would help a bit....Thank s again bro.... |

Re: Engine Ice
I just used the drain plug located on the throttle side of the engine. Am I missing something? To save time I just siphoned the extra fluid out of the underseat resevoir, is there a better way that does not involve removing the resevoir and dumping it?
I flush the system several times when changing out the coolant and I use distilled water with the specified amount of water wetter.
