2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
Has anyone heard about these tires (stock 2006 dunlop) being recalled. My wife said she read an article about these tires??? I can't seem to find anything on them.
I just don't think that they are any good. Might be part of the reason why the bike slid out from under me. Anyways, just want to get a since of what others are riding on? I heard that Conti Road Attacks are good tires.

Re: 2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
my last set were Dunlop Qualifiers loved them for the 50 miles i had them b4 my crash, and my new bike has Battle Axes and they are really sweet as well. My 05 had the stock dunlops on it at first and i really didnt like them at all compared to the two other sets i have run.

Re: 2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
I have the OEM Dunlops on my 06 FZ6 and they're ok....the only thing I have to watch for is that they will occasionally slip on DRY road centreline paint on bends. I don't know if this is usual for modern sports bike tires or not.

On Motorcycle tire recalls:
Metzeler Tire Recall - BMW R1100RT-P - R1100RTP Motorcycle Recall - webBikeWorld Michelin Announces Motorcycle Tire Recall Couldn't find anything on Dunlops. I use the Conti Road Attack and love them. After 4,000 miles they're awesome. |

Re: 2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
Well here in Cali its impossible to find the OEM Dunlop (D252 i think) dealers dont have/cant get them, they not listed on the Dunlop site. So i'm going for the new Dunlop Roadsmart. But overall i've been happy with my OEM D252
Just confused about why they not avail anywhere...

After 13,345 miles on my stock Dunlop 252's, I finally had them replaced. Overall performance, can't really compare because I can honestly say that this has been my only experience with street tires. Not the greatest as far as stickyness in the twisties. But no wobbling at high speeds, and the tires did start to square off. I had about 1 mm of tread left on the rear and 2mm on the front. Overall, I got great mileage off the tires, probably could have gotten close to 15,000 if I just commited to commuting, but what fun is that. The tire pressure held great. Only had to put air in the tires a couple of times over a span of 13 months. Maybe riding the bike everyday helped keep the pressure consistent. Bike never sits, it's my only ride. I posted some pics of my tires just before retirement. Oh I got the Michellin Pilot Powers, for $260 installed at the Yamaha dealership. Actually, $278 with tax. Attached Thumbnails I have about 500 miles on my new Michellin Pilot Powers, and I definately notice that these tires are much more stickier. Also, the bike can flick a lot easier.

Re: 2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
One thing that I have noticed about my OEM Dunlops is that they don't lose pressure as much now that they've got 4,000 km's on them (approx 2500 miles). For the first couple of thousand km's, they would lose 3 or 4 pounds of pressure a week. They seem to be maintaining the F33/R36 pressures now.
Definitely going with Michelin Pilot Roads or Pilot Powers next. Any thoughts on whether I'd notice any real difference between the Powers and the Roads besides price? I ride fairly steadily and smoothly (as expected of a mature adult ), with occasional short bursts of juvenile enthusiasm.

Same here, mine also can get a little squirly when I go over the painted lines on a flat straight road (mostly from the back tire). When ever I cross into a turn lane I can feel the back tire kinda wiggle, or transition to a different surface.

Re: 2006 Stock Tires-Recall?
Wow, how'd you get that many miles on the original Dunlop's? My rear one is all used up after 4500miles...My riding is mainly commuting and occasional twisty's
