Re: Hands Keep Falling Asleep
Can I ask if your forearms are swollen. Arm pump? When they go numb do the veins in your arm pop out & the muscles go rock hard?
This happens alot. Mostly with racers who constantly throw the bike from side to side. Most recently Jorge Lorenzo. As its been said, try to relax on the bike. If this is the problem, no glove or gel grip will solve it. Stretch your forearms, preferably when you are not on the bike. By then its to late. Get your arms used to being stretched & flexed whilst not on the bike. This will make it a not so foreign excersize when on the bike. Try those grip things (sorry dont know what they are called). They are an A shape & you squeeze the handles together. If you can do 200 of these in each hand in one sitting, you wont have numb hands on a bike anymore. |

Re: Hands Keep Falling Asleep
Another thing you might try is to bring your thumb up from under the hand grip to over the hand grip for a few minutes. Seems to help me when I can't get the hand off to shake it out.

I just want to let you guys know I went on my longest ride today from Spartanburg S.C. to Greenville S.C. one way it was about 34 miles. I know it don't seem long of a ride but I'm getting there little as little as my confidence grows and yes I am keeping that in check make sure it don't get to big and cause me to let my guard down and have a wreck. But anyhow I wanted to say at each red traffic light I would stretch my wrist and pump my hand to a fist over and over to help keep the feeling in my hands. I also kept reminding myself to sit up straight and hug tank with my inner legs to keep pressure off my hands and wrist. The advice you guys have been given is helping. Thanks. Also I plan on getting me some grip puppies as some of you suggested to me. But again thanks for the advice and links to suggestions.

Re: Hands Keep Falling Asleep
As havblu says vibration causes numbness like this
take off the bar ends and fill the bar with lead and refit bar end to dampen the vibration affect I only get it on slow journeys, if im working on the bike on the twisties i dont get it, so dont sit in one position move around and it may help |
