Swingarm rust/bubbling

My 2007 FZ6 is pristine except for bubbling at the end of the swingarms. I seem to have found the reason, if not the solution.

I was adjusting the chain today so undid the two adjuster bolts at the end of each 'arm. I also flicked the end caps away from the swingarm. Water poured out of each side, maybe 20cc. It seems to have got in through the rear wheel bolt thing (that holds the wheel on). As it stays inside the arm it is constantly corroding the end of the swingarm. I know now so will empty it more often.

Has anyone else found this?

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. See, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it . . .

I am lost man. I have a 07 too. Aluminum swing arm, with drain holes. No caps. Are the Euro and US that different?

Re: Swingarm rust/bubbling

After a big clean up of the rear end (arf) last weekend I deduced that there are drain holes but they are in the end caps and get clogged up with dirt so the water stays in there and corrodes stuff. The block through which the rear spindle goes (that you move to adjust the rear wheel) was like a ball of furred ****e rather than a piece of metal. Interesrtingly I took a look at another FZ6 parked next to me at work and the ends of his swingarms were even worse.
