Thinking about buying a scooter.....

I have it narrowed down to the Yamaha Zuma and the Honda Ruckus. Anybody on the forum own one of these or a 49cc scooter? Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

Go with the Zuma. It's a two-stroke Italian engine, same as the Aprilia Rally, and has hundreds of customizable parts and tunning stuff. That engine has been around for about 50 years now.

Why do you want a scooter? Nothing about it looks more fun than a motorcycle, but they can get 2x the mileage. There are some 100mpg models. If you do get one, take your good fz6-forum riding gear habits on the scooter with you. You will be the only scooter rider in the world with appropriate gear. They are as bad as Harley riders when it comes to ATGATT. Most commonly I see men and women in business dress with no protection other than a helmet.

The Honda Ruckus looks really rugged. If jeep made a scooter, it would probably look like the ruckus. Is there a reason why you are limiting yourself to 50cc's?

Just because they are pretty cheap.

Re: Thinking about buying a scooter.....

Scooters are pretty fun to tool around town. They have a completely different feel than a bike. And because they are extremely good on gas.
