Matris fork kit installed
Well I ordered my matris fork kit from PJ's Parts and they rock. Answered all my questions very quickly. Now on to the fun part. I didn't take many pictures because there are some good ones on the forum already showing the removal of the forks.
Loosen the front axel and find away to get the front tire off the ground. I ran a chain over a rafter and then through the handel bars to keep it up. Remove and wire tie the brake calipers to the radiator gaurds, remove fender, remove front wheel. Loosen the top pinch bolts for the forks, loosen the fork cap, loosen the lower fork pinch bolts and remove the fork. Remove the fork cap, spacer, washer, and spring and dump out the old fork oil. Pump the fork a few time to get all the oil out. Now for the matris parts. Insert the valve stack and use the spacers to push it down till it clicks. Fill the fork with oil and pump it a few times. I used my motion pro fork oil tool to make sure I had the correct out amount as specified in the service manual. Now drop the spring in and then the spacer and top if off with the new fork cap. Replace the fork and do the same for the otherside. Reverse the order to put it back together and your done. Make sure everythign is torqued to specs. I also did my ASV levers and scorpion exhaust. Picture time. Last edited by CombatPenguin; 04-12-2009 at 10:55 AM. Reason: Spelling |

Re: Matris fork kit installed
Well I put about 70 miles on today and the the new parts really make a difference. I haven't check the sag yet and adjusted the preload but it already has less nose dive when breaking and when hitting bumbs it doesn't feel like the front end hopping around. Much more planted and really feels better in the corners don't feel as nervous now at high speeds. The bike should have came with these from the factory. The only con I find is the price but I still think it's worth it.
