Throttle Body #1 adjusting screw many questions
Does anyone know what the factory setting is for Throttle Body #1 adjusting air screw? this is the throttle body that is to be used as a standard for the other throttle body's when synchronizing a 2007/2008 FZ6.
Plus does anyone know what the screws are actually doing? are they increasing vacuum in each throttle body? or are they leaning or enriching each throttle body? I don't know. Does Clockwise turning increase air flow or decrease Does Counterclockwise turning increase air flow or decrease. I put a vacuum gauge on throttle body #1 but it just does not make sense to me. Specs say 218 mmHg or 8.6 inHg. My Vacuum gauge reads about 23 inHg and the minimum I can adjust is 20 inHg with the screw all the way in. I don't feel right with the screws all the way in so I set Throttle body #1 to about 22.5 inHg and then set the rest of the throttle bodys to the same using the vacuum gauge on each throttle body one at a time. I then put all 4 throttle bodys on my Motion Pro tuner which does not have Mercury but some blue barmetric pressure water. This only tells me if the levels are close. So yeah I have the levels the same but I don't know if the vacuum is correct. Here is a link to the vacuum gauge I used Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices Also when using the gauge the needle fluctuates very fast from Zero to max vacuum achieved, the gauge needle does not go to a vacuum level and stay there like the motion pro stick. Many questions, just trying to get a better understanding than just turn a few screws and getting the levels the same on the Motion Pro Sync Stick. |

If you seek out a member here named Fred, he'll probably be able to answer your questions.
He made a video at one stage when syncing throttle boddies, have a look and see if it helps. http://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/fz6-t...nch-movie.html (Throttle body synch movie.)

Re: Throttle Body #1 adjusting screw many questions
Don't know about vac levels but I was told to use #3 as the base for the others. I just use a motion pro mercury stick. Bike seems happy.

Re: Throttle Body #1 adjusting screw many questions
I've been assuming that cylinder #1 was the one that was connected to the MAP sensor. So it's important that the manifold pressure on cylinder #1 be set to the value in the manual.
As to what they bypass screws do, they just let a little air past the throttle plates, and are adjustable so that you can balance the cylinders. I've never adjusted cylinder #1, I just tuned #2, #3 and #4 to match it. But the procedure is in the manual. Go through it step by step and you should be fine.
