When changing your oil is there a trick not to get oil all over the exhaust when you remove the oil filter.

I put it on the centerstand.
If you like you can tape a little aluminum foil trough to direct it towards your drain pan
I just wipe it off.

I use a piece of cardboard that sticks out far enough to keep the oil away from the exhaust whether taking the filter off or removing the drain plug. Nothing to wipe off and it goes in the dumpster when finished.

It has yet to fail me and there always seems to be a box around that needs cutting up. One thing is for certain, it sure limits the clean up....

if you take a center punch or a sharp tipped screwdriver and make a hole in the front of the filter and let it drain before you take it off you will end up with very little mess.

+1 thats the way I'm doing it next go around. before I used a small funnel but the foil trick looks like the way to go!!!
