Having the bike inside and in pieces anyway, a crazy idear hit me ...: Would it be ok to simply drop all the cowlings in the dishwasher? It would clean them inside out, and be hassle free!
I've Might leave the Frame Side Covers out, since thay have that sticker on them, but the rest including the windsheild? Anybody have any idear if this would harm the plastic in any way? ,- im thinking temperature both under wash and drying etc...

I have run computer parts through it several times. Nothing with moving parts of course but it sure does a great job on a keyboard (remove the electronics first) I'm not talking the $10 kb, I'm talking about the $90 gaming keyboard.

![]() Don't waste you time with the dishwasher, with the constent jets and heat. I would just go to a drive threw car wash and the bike and you would be clean.

Re: Cowlings in the Dishwasher?
But the parts should be able to stand quite a lot of heat ..,- Thet must be subjected to quite high temperature from the engine on a hot summer day?

So can tupperware and rubbermaid but try those in the bottom rack on heated dry. You could try it, then show us a pic of the parts and we can guess what they used to be! All in fun...

Re: Cowlings in the Dishwasher?
If you wash your covers in the dishwasher, here's what will happen:
1) There will be a faint RAINBOW film all over the surfaces. 2) If you use hard water, slight scratches will be visible. 3) The hot water might TEMPER the plastic/fiberglass, making it more brittle. 4) Hot water could SPEED UP corrosion processes. Other than that...good idea!!
