Internation Shipping / Long Term Storage

Hello!

Yes, I am new here, and I am in desperate of some help. I am military and leaving for overseas very very shortly. I am forced to store my bike for a year, and then have it shipped internationally. I am just told I have to drain my fuel completely (yea, I should have realized a while ago but didnt think about it). I am not very mechanically inclined either, but I've read this can cause rust over time. If anyone can help me with suggestions on how to get all the fuel out, as well as preserving the tank, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Start it and run it until it runs out of gas?

Also leave the gas cap open after it is empty to avoid condensation inside the tank.

The service manual says to use a pump through the filler cap, I assume that means syphon it.
