Neil, I can't stop laughing after I saw your quote of "I was joking at the expense of some of the other rider’s misfortunes, and posted a reply stating that my bike was still a “minter”. To top it off, the pics you provided us just enforced your story even more. You have my vote! Sorry about your tank, have you searched online for a spare or used tank? If there is anything I or any of us here in the states can do, let us know. Not sure if it's any cheaper getting one here and then shipping it directly to you.

Im not gona buy a new tank as its way out of my budget. I have been quoted a resonable price for repair. I'll get it done when the weather turns crappy.

Its ugly wooden horse, and I think you are the winner. Nobody else has even stepped up to the plate.
I dont think your title needs to be changed to crash though. Maybe Droppy but not Crash. A pic at Buckingham Palace would be great. That made me laugh.

I am so ashamed of this one. Thankfully it happened on my old bike, a FZR 400. My english is not great so bare with me. I used to work as an electronic technician a few years back and and one day a friend gave me his wifes hair dryer to repair. He placed in a plastic bag and off I went. I had the bags handle openings round my left wrist and the bag on top of the fuel reseviour. As soon as I made a right turn, the bag slid to the right and got caught between the bikes frame and fairing loking up my left hand. Keep in mind that this happened in about a second. When I attempted to straighten the bike up I could not straighten out the handle bar and down I went. I broke the front turn signal and cracked the fairing. Shamefull....

I still can't believe I did this. I went to the Yamaha dealer yesterday to get a cable lube clamp. I was pulling into a parking space and just coming to a stop with my left foot down like always, when I noticed an oil puddle that I was about to run my tire into. So I hit the brake to stop short of the puddle, and somehow I lost my ballance. The bike started leaning to the right. At first I thought I could stop it, but it was just a bit too late.
It was the slowest crash ever. I don't even think the bike made a sound when it hit the ground because I was fighting to hold it up all the way. Alas, there I was laying on the ground, still stradling the bike with the engine running. I hit the kill switch after drawing much attention to myself with a throttle surge. A couple of sympathetic guys helped me get it back on the rubber, but I felt like such an idiot. The bike did sustain some damage. I scratched the edge of the right mirror and turn signal, and bent the brake pedal in about 3/4 in. I thought that was it at the time, but when I got home and had a chance to look it over, I noticed the dent in the tank. I must have dented it with my knee when I was trying to keep the bike from falling. I've had a number of motorcycle mishaps over the years, but dropping my 2 month old bike in front of the store where I bought it was definitely the most embarrassing. Anyone know how to get a dent out of a tank? I tried a bathroom plunger with no effect.

It was about 1am after 15 hours of riding and about 700 miles i was exhausted and riding home. my wife was behind me on her bike as well and i stopped at an intersection because there was gravel in the road and didn't want to take a turn at speed on gravel. i came to a complete stop and when i put my foot down i was so tired that i couldn't hold up my bike so i tipped over, when i got up i looked back at my wife to say " i am ok" and saw that she also had dropped her bike for essentially the same reason. So we both looked at each other and at our bikes in the middle of a deserted road and just started laughing at ourselves. which in turn woke us up and after picking the bikes up and heading on our way we mad it home with no further incident. |

Re: Post your Hall of Shame Moments HERE
I have one:
I was riding and noticed a major oil leak (it was spewin' all over my back tire...) so I pulled over and called my friend (a bike mechanic) He said, "just stick a rag in it and ride it over here." Some guy gave me a rag so I shoved it in where it was leaking
