Thumbs up Hello from Iowa

I'm new to this forum and I'm planning on buying an 07 FZ6. Whats a reasonable price to expect to pay. They are asking $6800. I've seen a few threads about this and was wondering if the region you live in makes a difference. I don't want to pay too much. Any help here would be appreciated.

Hey RJ,

I am a new member to this forum so maybe I am not the best person to answer this question. But I bought my 08 FZ6 a couple of days ago.
Is the 07 that you are looking at brand new? If not, then are you buying it from a private party or a dealer? If it is an unused 07, then it depends on how desperate the dealer is to get the bike off his lot to make space for the 08 models. In any case, the MSRP for the 07 listed on the Yamaha website is $6849. So you can always start at 6800 and then see where you can go with that which ofcourse depends on a lot of factors, some of which I mentioned above.

Re: Hello from Iowa

I was in the local dealship last week just looking around. They had new 07 fz6's with a tag of 6100 on them. After taxes and everything I imagine it would come to be around 6600 or so.

LOL.....I'm glad I'm not the only one who paid too much, I was such an idot at the time of purchase. However, I don't regret the bike at all, one of my best purchases I have ever made. That's why I started this thread below, so somebody who's in a similar situation as I was don't go into the stealership without somekind of knowledge of what people have been getting the bikes for. The later posts should give the most recent purchases, like the '08's and '07's. By the way, there is no difference between the '08's and '07's except color. Welcome to the forum by the way.

$6800, is that an out the door price, or base price?

In either case, that's way too high for a brand new '07, given that the 2008's have been out for a while. Myself and 2 others on the forums, each bought brand new 2007's, the last at Highlands Yamaha just west of Chicago, for $6250, out the door. Other out the door quotes, from different Chicagoland dealers that had 07's left, were $6450 and $6650. This was at the end of February.

Re: Hello from Iowa

I paid 5,999 usd for my 07 a couple of weeks ago and the 08 was 6,200. Their is quite a few powersports dealers around here so it is easy enough to stop around and play the Whos gonna give me the best deal game. Have to spend a afternoon driving but it saved money in the end. Good luck. Its a great bike.

Re: Hello from Iowa

I'm one of the others Beknatok is referring to, and I have to say that $6800 is out of line. We're lucky we found such a good dealer. A straight shooter right out the gate.

I paid like $5999, plus $695 in prep, plus $450 in shipping, $250 in paper work, $700 in taxes and like $200 in license. I also bought one year of insurance ($325). Also oil, sliders ($70), and Cortech Tank ($105) bag, OTD was like $8,000ish. I'm dumb...

Oh yeah, that was after I talked them down $1,500!

Yes that is a brand new bike at a dealership.

Thanks for all the responses.
