how to keep the metal bits clean

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere! Now you will have to excuse my total lack of mechanical knowledge, but...Just how do I clean the for metal pipes that are located underneath the bike at the front? I've only had mu bike a month and already they are starting to look tarnished. I clean it (the whole bike) every weekend but they are already looking a bit worn. I don't really eant them to get any worse?

Cheers

PS - just what are the bloody pipes called?

That's just the way it is unfortunately. I never polished mine. I took them off and painted them with a flat black ceramic paint in a spray can, and even then they tend to look a little dingy after a while.

I think you're talking about your exhaust headers, the 4 downtubes coming off the front of your bike. There are different specific polishes just for exhaust piping.

Check out this stuff, it's supposed to work great on Holeshot piping and unless you buy it with their headers, they won't give you a one year finish warranty.

I polish mine with Mother's or Semi chrome. They look as they did when I bought it. gold and shiny..

Hi mate,

The UK term for them are "Down pipes", They are stainless steel so will last a long time, any metal polish and fine wire wool will bring back the shine. I personally don't mind the dulling.
