Severe Thunderstorm warning.

Ok I am in a county on the very edge of a severe thunderstorm warning.

To my east one county no warnings, it is in a line to my north and south.

There are no storms or rain on radar.

It is very humid and knowing the weather here, these storms do just pop up, build and hammer the surface in a short time.
I want to go riding. We are with winds 10-20 with expected justs to 30.

Again no rain now, but the system is in place to make some big ones.

Would you all go riding or stay home? I only get a few days a week that I can ride. Last weekend Jennie did not take Trinity, this weekend she didnt come get her untill this morning and I have to go get her tomorrow around 2.

Wondering what you all thought. I am probley not going to ride. Rain I dont mind. Wind I dont mind. Rain with strong winds and lightning is very dangerous. Flip side the radar is clean.

Re: Severe Thunderstorm warning.

I'd go riding, we (poorwboy and me) went to Palomar once knowing there was a storm coming. we had a good ride up and got a few runs on the mountain before all hell broke loose. we both survived the trip and added some experiance to our bag of tricks.

Can get nasty like that down here too. In those circumstances, it's 50/50 as to whether I'll ride. I guess it depends how badly I want to ride. I do, however, make sure in those conditions I ride in areas where I have lots of places to pull off, preferably decent restaurants. It's kinda nice when a storm hits to chill in a restaurant with a burger (or whatever) and give it time to pass.

Re: Severe Thunderstorm warning.

Hmmmm, where ya been Steve? We have been riding all day (off and on ) on the Harley (Harley drags are in town at Beach Bend). Stayed dry and so far so good. Going back out solo on the FZ6 in about an hour and will be back around 9:00 tonight. If I don't hear the thunder or see the lightening and then hear the thunder right after I'm good to go.......

Note: If I do see and hear it back to back it's under a bridge I will be. Being a moving target ain't for me.

Re: Severe Thunderstorm warning.

I got hammered with rain at Mammoth cave park. Its hit or miss. Sunny and dry then pounding rain. I came home about a hour ago but the internet was acting up here. Long post lost.

The winds in the storms are bad. I was blown completly across my lane. In the dry sunny areas its nice. They are just cells popping up.
